Thawing the ice in me

Channeled Mandala art and message for me by Rositsa Vladimirova Metodieva from Mystic Artventure. Used with permission.

Growing up as a typical Chinese girl, I aspired to be a humble and demure lady, to be seen and not heard. My Chinese name is 冰洁, which my Mother chose to symbolize ‘Purity’ — 冰清玉洁. My name is dominated by the Water element, and water is often used to describe emotions.

5 years ago, I got to know through my Human Design chart that I tend to feel emotional energies from people around me, or even from movies and books intensely. Looking back on the first 2–3 decades of my life, various emotional waves from others had accumulated within…

Don’t be afraid of using it.

Remember the story Princess and the Pea written by Hans Christian Anderson? It’s a fairy tale that honors sensitivity as a royal trait, but I’ve also heard it used by parents and caregivers to belittle sensitive children.

Most of us grew up with the conditioned belief that our high sensitivity is simply too much to handle. We might be crying over the littlest things and be made to feel guilty for our tears. We might refuse to stay in daycare because there are way too many people in it, but we were told to just bear with it just like…

More faery connections keep coming in

This year, 3 faeries whom I already knew, blessed me with more of their unique magic. I’d love to introduce them to you:

#1. Betty the Garden Faery and Friendly Flow Artist

Betty Kang is a generous garden faery who led me into the magical world of flowing with soft silk fan veils. She’s our local friendly flow artist and fellow mom of 3 kids who regularly shares videos of her dancing gracefully using various flow props in many beautiful locations in Singapore.

I’m so grateful to meet up with her in person late last year. She helped me select and purchase my first set of custom-made silk fan…

It’s the sweet spot between writing on your website blog and posting on social media

As a sensitive solopreneur, writing on Medium is the sweet spot between writing on my website blog and posting on social media. I’d like to share with you some of the pros and cons I’ve discovered through doing content marketing via my website blog VS posting on social media, and show how writing on Medium is the sweet spot between these two options.

Dissolving Judgements by Camille Grady

“The solution that carries the colour across the paper,
So simply expressed, so effortlessly flowing,
The pigment dissolving in the water,
Emotions flowing from the soul.”

A half-year review for Dance — my Word for 2021

Photo by Pars Sahin on Unsplash

My journey in Dance didn’t start in 2021. It went back through many past lives, which I only got to uncover recently. So far, I’ve lived as a flower fairy in the garden, where my entire life was a full commitment to dance. It was all I knew — a deep soul calling that I followed faithfully without the distraction of human thoughts and inhibitions. In the next life, I became a human girl who was forbidden to dance, but she danced in her mind and spirit whenever there was an opportunity to hang out with her flower fairy sisters…

Love is not something we brace ourselves to shoot at others

Photo by Tom Larsen on Unsplash

Do you remember the Care Bear stare? It’s this famous scene that forms the kickass climax of every episode, where Care Bears stand together and radiate light from their respective tummy symbols.

“These combine to form a ray of love and good cheer which could bring care and joy into the target’s heart.” ~ Wikipedia.

As a child watching this memorable scene, I had mixed feelings about it. There was a sense of excitement and delight that Love, not violence, can actually be used to save the day! Then there was this gnawing sensation that didn’t sit right. They were…

Dear fellow solopreneurs,

I hope you’re doing well.

Now that my kids are finally back to school, I’ve been celebrating my kid-free mornings with more dance! I’ve been busy cultivating my sense of magical wonder through taking an online course that combines meditation, movement improvisation, dance choreography, and silk fan flow techniques. It’s so fun and fulfilling to me! I love that I’m overflowing with joy through learning these new techniques and choreography.

Have you been cultivating your joy and magic too?

In this issue, I’d like to extend a warm welcome to Faith Teo and Uma Bode as the…
