Don’t Be Afraid To Align More With Your Passion
Dance with the thoughts that block you from pursuing it
Ever since I started to reclaim my passion to dance more for the past few years, I’ve been feeling a part of me resisting this new change. She’s a naggy old lady screaming within me, constantly reminding me that dance is not practical at all, and I’ve been doing my best to block out her incessant whining.
I was just chatting about this with a friend, and she asked me further, “Oh, why does dance feel impractical to you?” Strangely enough, it never crossed my mind to list down all my reasons.
List Down Your Whys and Why-Nots
For any internal conflict, it’s always good to jot down what each side is fighting for.
It felt quite liberating to finally listen to what this naggy old lady in me wants to say.
Dance is unpractical
She told me that dance feels unpractical because:
- I’m just moving on the spot and not really traveling to a new destination. It doesn’t feel functional enough.
- I can’t multi-task when I dance.
- I can’t accompany my kids when I dance.
- I’m not earning money when I dance.
