Hi Lipika, yes it does feel strange to give an offering only after the wish has been fulfilled. We have a similar concept for our Chinese deities at the temples too.

Personally, I believe that we're spiritual beings living human lives. Perhaps it's easier to see that it's possible for our dreams and wishes to come true by externalizing through these God(esses).
