How I Reconnect to My Mind, Body, and Spirit Through Dancing in Nature

My word for 2021 is ‘Dance’

I got angry in reaction to an unpleasant experience one morning last week. Somehow, after dancing daily for these few weeks, my first instinct was to go dance in the park just across the road where I was.

I chose my favorite spot in the park where I always see this beautiful tree who I lovingly refer to as Amelia. She looked like a magnificent dancer with her wide and sturdy trunk and her branches spread out so beautifully. She beckoned me to dance with her. I set up my trusty tripod and set my phone to record these dancing memories I was about to create with Amelia.

Without any music, I allowed my feelings to interact with Amelia’s welcoming aura. Using just my body as an instrument, I danced intuitively to this tree’s compassionate and grounding presence. Dancing in her presence made me feel and trust in my own beauty. It was a deeply magical and healing experience for me.

My anger vanished and my chest radiated with love and joy.
